My story...

I left Vancouver on April 4 2010 to live one year abroad. I arrived in London- spent a week with my cousins, headed over to Ireland to see some more cousins and tour the country, back to London for a day- and arrived in Paris on April 28th, 2010. I found an apartment and started working on May 10th. From May 2010 until February 2011 I lived the Parisian life and took advantage of living in the epicenter of the world by traveling and exploring numerous nearby countries such as: Algeria, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain, England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, the south of France, Belgium, Morocco, and South Africa.
This blog takes you into the wonderful adventures of my life with stories and pictures galore.
I was due back to Vancouver on April 1, 2011- where I took my position back after my one year leave. I flew back to Vancouver on March 27, 2011. It has been good to be back- I am so blessed as I am surrounded by such great people!!! So good to see friends and family again after 1 year!
Just because I'm back in Vancouver to what was my "normal" life... doesn't mean the adventures and blogging stop here. The adventures will continue I'm sure... so
the only way to stay informed with my random experiences is to come back to this page! So add it to your favourites.

Football fever

Well...as you know, The Fifa World Cup is currently under way in South Africa. How jealous am I of my brother for being there, watching the games and spending quality time with family.

However...the next best place to be during the world cup is in Europe. Soccer is INCREDIBLY popular here...or as the french call it: "foot".

I walk around seeing people playing for fun...

But specifically for the world cup... there are a lot of things happening around Paris... many I have not even seen yet! At one of the train stations: Gare de L'Est there is a beach soccer field set up and I guess they have dance shows and competitions nightly for the next 4 weeks!

There are massive screens set up, bars have flags hanging everywhere, concerts galore, and France being the multicultural and proud country it is... if a team such as Brasil, France, or Algeria wins... the people go MAD. A little too crazy though... can be dangerous on the metros because there's drunk fools everywhere! I guess it's all in the fun and games... hopefully no one is getting hurt.

So last Saturday an organization put together a World Cup Embassy Soccer event... so cool! So embassies played against each other in a mini tournament. I wouldn't be a true Canadian if I didn't go support my national team! We didn't do too well (if it was hockey, it would be another story) But it was still fun!!!!

This is the Canadian team (my colleagues) vs. The Portuguese team (Final score: 1-3)
I'm looking forward to getting really into it this year... don't know if I'll ever live in Europe for another one!!! And of course I'm cheering for South Africa!!!!
