My story...

I left Vancouver on April 4 2010 to live one year abroad. I arrived in London- spent a week with my cousins, headed over to Ireland to see some more cousins and tour the country, back to London for a day- and arrived in Paris on April 28th, 2010. I found an apartment and started working on May 10th. From May 2010 until February 2011 I lived the Parisian life and took advantage of living in the epicenter of the world by traveling and exploring numerous nearby countries such as: Algeria, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain, England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, the south of France, Belgium, Morocco, and South Africa.
This blog takes you into the wonderful adventures of my life with stories and pictures galore.
I was due back to Vancouver on April 1, 2011- where I took my position back after my one year leave. I flew back to Vancouver on March 27, 2011. It has been good to be back- I am so blessed as I am surrounded by such great people!!! So good to see friends and family again after 1 year!
Just because I'm back in Vancouver to what was my "normal" life... doesn't mean the adventures and blogging stop here. The adventures will continue I'm sure... so
the only way to stay informed with my random experiences is to come back to this page! So add it to your favourites.

Paris in the fall

I must agree with my friend Josie... Paris is a beautiful city in the fall. I took advantage and had a few little outings here and there... here are a few:

Vising the Musee d'Orsay on a Sunday!

Eating a famous croissant at Stohrer bakery for my friend Raj!

MMmmmm.. my second favorite sushi place in Paris (Thanks REGINE!!!!) Planet sushi is fusion deliciosuness!!!
Amongst my favorite... the green roll! It is rolled in fresh herbs! Magically delicious!

For dessert... The banana and nutella roll wrapped in a crepe! Only in France!

I took the time on a Sunday afternoon to visit the Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris... I don't there there is a better season.

How symbolic...

Amongst others... Jim Morrison.

Neat!!

This is my favorite Parisian resto ever. If you blink, you will miss it... but it is wonderful. It is a cute little wine cave that supports artisans.
Their fall decor was fabulous!!!!!

This is my favorite salad in the whole world. It is made with fresh lettuce, cherry and sundried tomatoes, thin sliced beef, parisian love, nuts and seets, artichoke hearts, and balsamic glaze. It is eaten with a beautiful French baguette.... I am in heaven just looking at it!
I dragged the crew there one Friday night :)

Well... one of my friends made it to Paris!!! Noriko and her friend Jordan came to Paris for a few days! They met me at my work!!!
We explored my favorite neighborhood together... Montmartre!
Place du Tertre with Noriko!

I am actually posting this on December 4th.. and it is freezing here in Paris. Winter has arrived. Taking a picture of the lights on the Champs Elysees is on my list of things to do... wait for it!!!

Good Brazilian times with good Brazilian (and a french) friends

I have been fortunate enough to make really good friends here in Paris. It's not the number of friends... it's the quality. Isabelle; whom I work with, and Roseni have introduced me to the wonderful world of Brazilian culture- one I am now very intregued by. These are some of my fabulous Brazilian experiences this past fall... and a few random others.

One Saturday night, Isabelle, Roseni, some of their Brazilian friends, and I graced Le Cabaret Sauvage with our presence. What a neat venue... it has this cabaret style roof top over the main stage / dance floor.

The featured sound that night was Brazilian Samba music. About 3-4 groups played the sweet sound of Samba music as the people danced around them- 360 degrees. What an amazing dance that is. I couldn't stop staring at people's feet as they samba'd their way to the music. Now I must say, I normally have rhythm- but this dance was impossible for me to master. One of Roseni's friends tried giving me a little samba lesson... hahaha.. oh man, FAIL. Well, he said I was getting the hang of it, but it is really confusing!!! I highly recommend giving it a shot.. haha.. you will see what I am talking about!!! It was good fun with good people though!

Yes that is Isabelle almost falling asleep in the background- she pretty much did sleep for a few hours of the night... She had a long day!

This group was my favorite... I will be putting up mini videos on youtube and will post the links soon.

Me :)

It is always me suggesting the restaurants we go to - for our Friday night ritual - but for once... it was Roseni's turn. Of course, she picked a Brazilian restaurant. So we went to Gabriella's. It was delicious food with a superb decor.

I don't know if you can tell, but he's wearing headphones :)
This is the wall behind the toilet in the bathroom!!!! Neat!!!! The wall you face while you're on the toilet is even more interesting.... but this blog is rated PG- so I won't post the other picture... unless there is a high demand for it.
Another one of our evenings with with Miss Flavia! She had a flight Brazil to Paris and then took the train back to London where she is currently living. We went to the Frog and the Princess that night for a fun little evening! Group picture in the street!

Another Brazilian experience was this one: Roseni making us Brazilian style hamburgers!!! Woahhhh.. calories galore...but boy were they good! On theirs they had mayo, mustard, meat, cheese, fried egg, ham, bacon, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, and lettuce!!! On mine they substituted the bacon and ham for turkey... how sweet :)

And I made the yam and potato fries!!!!

Diogo was diggin them!

MMmmmmmm.. the mater pieces.

For Diogo's going away party... we decided to go BOWLING!!!!!!!!! Or "booling" as the french would pronounce it!
As you can see on Isabelle's face...she was not impressed that Diogo and I were goofing off around her as she was aiming for a strike. hehe
Just pure randomness
And good times :)

Loving this picture
And the final score... yeah... I suck!
All in all... I have had such a wonderful time here in Paris. These are a snippit of the experiences I have had and will treasure!
