Spring 2011 Paris Fashion Week: Christian Dior!!!!!!
How exciting!!!!!
In preparation for the show, I wasn't sure what to wear, how it works, how to get there, but Alexandra and I chatted over skype about the logistics of it... and I felt a lot less nervous and a lot more excited!!! The day prior I got my hair cut and blow dried and I was to wear all black for the show.
On the 8th I communicated with Susanna- the designer for Dior that Alexandra is good friends with- and she said I was able to pick up the pass at the Dior office, which is conveniently located across the street from the Embassy. So I walked over, said that I have a pass waiting for me, and I handed over an envelope with my name on it. Inside I was to find a backstage wrist pass and a post-it with instructions on how to get in.
I got there at about 1: 45pm and the show was to begin at 2:30. So I decided to soak it all and people watch. The show itself was in a tent set up at the Jardin de Tuillerie at Concorde.
There were balloons set up promoting the event...
Photographers taking shots...
And media galore!!! People/paparazzi were patiently waiting with their cameras to see the famous fashion faces to walk through, ready to get a picture of the stars to grace their presence at the show.... and then there was me. :) hehe
I was able to go in early because I had a backstage pass as opposed to an invitation, so I looked around, got some pictures, people watched, and then found my spot, I was to be standing on the right side behind the second set of seats.
The media was setting up when I arrived... it was insane, like 50 cameras all jam packed into one little area at the end of the runway.
On the seats were booklets with the names of the dresses and some information about the collection, a few people left them on their seats, so I snagged a few after the show :) makes for a great souvenir!!!
Slowly but surely the seats started filling up.... there were I am sure lots of famous fashion designers whom I wouldn't be able to recognize, but in terms of hollywood stars, you knew who they were because as they entered, the media went insane and followed them all the way until their seats. I happen to be on the right side- because sitting exactly across from me was Actress: Rachel Bilson in the hot pink dress.
And shortly after after a SWARM of media finally let this person sit down and I could see who it was, none other than Kate Moss was there to see the show.
Right before the show started I asked the guy stood up next to me if he wouldn't mind taking a picture of me! We then got to talking and I asked him why he was here. His wife was a model in the show and they have a blog together of short videos in modeling/fashion. They live in NY and she is actually from Vancouver!!! He said he loves it there, as many people do, and he told me the inside scoop about fashion shows; for example, they're over in a flash and he'll point out famous people to me (as I hardly had a clue).
And then my friends... the show began.
SOOOOOOOOOOOO coool!!!!!!!!!!

A fashion website noted: John Galliano gives us whimsical, sea-faring, tropical-style fun for Christian Dior Spring '11. Vibrant hues, floral prints, ruffles, and sailor caps set the mood for a bold, youthful collection. It's a retro, South Pacific-inspired fantasy played on modern silhouettes and fresh fabrics: metallic, rope detailing, sheer ruffles, and sparkling embellishment, get carried away with it all — fabulous!
After the show the media swarmed after Kate Moss.... and it was over in a flash. The whole show probably lasted 20 mins... in and out. A lot of set up for a little bit of runway time.
So I stuck around and got some pictures... here I am... on the runway, hahahaha.
I of course had to take advantage of the backstage pass itself... so I did some snooping around!
What a fabulous experience... after that I felt soooooo Parisian!!! I met up with some friends after to tell them all about my experience and the icing on the cake was one last picture with me holding a cigarette....how fabulous. ( haha... of course I didn't smoke it)
